Heat Recovery Unit
An Air pre-heater (APH) or a Water pre-heater (WPH) is a heat recovery device which is installed in the flue circuit after the main boiler. This recovers the heat from the flue gases by utilizing this heat to pre-heat the combustion air (APH) or feed water (WPH) before they enter the main boiler. This way, the efficiency of the boiler system is increased . These are shell & tube type heat exhangers, where hot flue gases transfer the heat to air or water, thereby rsiaing the temperature of air /water. The flue gases after passing through this heat exchanger go out through the chimney at a reduced temp of approx. 130 – 150 degC .
The range of air preheaters can be varied from manufacturer to manufacturer and their price typically depends upon the size and capacity you’ll need for your boiler. It begins at 1000 and progresses to lakhs. If you’re looking for a preheater, then RG thermal solution is there to assist you.
Air Preheaters (APH) is the Shell and tube type Heat Exchangers used for preheating the air which is fed to the boiler or furnaces/kilns for combustion of fuels. Air Pre heater’s primary objective is to extract the waste heat from the flue gases leaving the boiler.
For generating fire in a boiler furnace 3 main ingredients are needed: Fuel, Air & Ignition. Air is used in a Boiler for combustion of fuel. Based on the stoichiometry calculation, the right quantity of air along with excess air is fed into the boiler furnace for the combustion of fuel.
Generally, fuel fed to the boiler is at normal room temperature and for combustion of fuel to take place; the temperature of the fuel is increased from its room temperature to ignition temperature. So to increase the efficiency of the combustion process as well as a boiler, hot air is fed to the furnace for the combustion of fuel.

Water Preheater (WPH)
Air Preheater (APH) and Water Preheater (WPH) as per industry requirements. The purpose of WPH is to recover the heat from the boiler flue gas, which increases the thermal efficiency of the boiler by reducing the useful heat loss in the flue gas. It also allows, control over the temperature of gases leaving the stack (to meet emissions regulations).
Water Preheater (WPH) can be provided to utilize the flue gas heat for pre-heating the boiler feed water. Consequently, there is a corresponding reduction in the fuel requirements of the boiler. For every 220 C reduction in flue gas temperature by passing through an economiser or a pre-heater, there is 1% saving of fuel in the boiler.
